Work and Study UK

International students are allowed to work and study UK. Whether their intentions of working are purely to help pay off their expenses or to gain valuable work experience, it is always a good idea to consider doing this. Firms and corporations are in need of people who have a good work ethic, are diligent, and will work harmoniously with others. The experiences you will be able to get as you work while you study will make your credentials vibrant and appealing.

Studying while working will give you a sense of independence, making you feel more mature and responsible. It also allows you to see things from a different perspective. The average working hours for a student in the UK are 20 hours a week during term-time and full-time during your holidays. This must be in accordance with your visa qualifications. If you happen to work more than the necessary hours, it will be in breach of your visa conditions.

It is possible for you to work and study UK fields such as:

  • Sales and Marketing
  • Retail
  • Tourism
  • Administrative or Clerical roles
  • Hospitality

According to Home Office rules, the only restrictions you will encounter when studying while working is that you are not allowed to run a business, be self-employed, or pursue a career by filling a permanent career vacancy (being a professional sportsperson or entertainer is strictly prohibited).

Currently, a student with a part-time job will be able to earn £7 per hour – though some students may earn more than this. It is advisable that you work only 10 to 12 hours per week while you study. You also need to rest and relax to have a healthy lifestyle in the UK. If you have more questions regarding work and study UK, we will gladly answer them.
